Moving like a breeze but with incredible force
From far beneath the surface
She seems to exist as a life source dependant on so little
And yet within lies so many varying lifeforms
Dependant on her oxygen
Lost traveler's have been left to her mercy
Some she has spared, some she has consumed
She moves in currents of warm and cold
Sometimes freezing, sometimes frozen solid
Such a beauty to behold
Some natives revere her like a god to be feared by all
They read her pleasure or displeasure by what she produces
Others simply enjoy her beauty in varying azure shades
As she reflects herself in the sky
She is freckled with islands
Some big, and many so small
She embraces them all like precious jewels
With soul soothing waves that can be heard
From dawn to dusk, from dusk to dawn
When she is disturbed from deep within
The islands and dwellers thereof
Are slammed with waves of uncontrollable force
Earning her names like Tidal and Tsunami
Some would define that as her way
Of making man pay for the wars they've polluted her with
Others blame it on harmful contributions to her skies
Even still, no amount of shifting blame
May ever fix or remove her dwindling beauty
I'd like to fix my eyes on her again
I'd like to do so from the sky
For she holds within her magnitude
The islands I long to visit again
Where I first entered the world
I'd like to experience her white laced movements
And toe hugging sandy floors
To smell her salty breeze
That gracefully kisses her shores
To be swept away by it
Carry me there
Because that's where I'd like to enjoy her
Cradled in a hammock hanging from a coconut tree
Oh, to be lulled to sleep at night
By the sounds of her soul soothing waves
That can be heard through
The windows of my bahay kubo
