Tuesday

the least of these....

today....this morning was one of those moments.  God has given me an ever increasing heart for street kids and orphaned babies.  well, they're all orphaned....just differently.  he knows how to do it too.  on the way to  dropping the boys off to school at Faith Academy, there were young mothers out with their wee babies.  squatter moms.  I hate that term but that's that.  they need Jesus.  they might already have been introduced.  but they still need to have some one make sure their physical needs are met.  Jesus does that through the able and willing [James 1:27].  the Lord has told me that this year we, as a family, will start the journey.  we will be doing this together. he has spoken to me on several occasions but has used my daughter on one.  she and I were sitting at the table one morning this week in the midst of me cooking and "working" on the computer.  she says, "it's going to be so sad when we do Christmas and there are children who won't have Christmas".  I'm so thankful for her sensitive heart!  so, immediately I put out a request on the Philippine missionaries email community for information on ministries for children during the Christmas season.  We got a lot of replies.  so then I asked her what she thought about helping with the street kids to which she replied, "that would be so awesome."

while that's great and all, it won't be enough.  these children need to be ministered to and provided for on a regular basis.  I see no justification in just engaging once or a couple times a year.  Some how I doubt the Lord sees that either.

this is exciting!!!!

lost behind the noise

just like any other day driving through the labyrinth metropolitan was pure buzz. the streets are laced with vendors of sorts. brooms, gum, peanuts, quail eggs, woven rugs, cigarettes....busy drivers forced to sit and catch a breather in standing traffic can take their pick. it was another day of fun in the disorder, breathing in the various pungent aromatic drifts and falling in love of simply being in it all. yes, THIS is truly more fun in the Philippines! ^_^

then for just one moment I caught a glimpse of something that grabs the heart strings. she seemed all on her own...too young to be on her own. for that one moment she was all I could see. she was all I could hear. she was all I could think of. why was she all by herself? was mom coming back? was dad coming back? that one moment in time seemed to stand still. then suddenly all the traffic came rushing back into the picture and started to crowd her out of site. I turned and strained to watch her as long as possible. but just a few more seconds and she seemed lost behind the noise and the traffic. I still wonder.....
