if you only knew the millions of things I want to say....but don't

Friday

inconvenienced to humbleness

The van battery has been going down hill fast.  Tapping the connections with a hammer can only work for so long before it becomes obvious that greater measures have to be taken just to crank it up.  Due to misinformation, the plan was for me to drop Mike off at work this morning and head on over to the AutoZone store to get a new battery installed.  Only, the employee with the right information admits he's not allowed to remove the well tucked battery and install a new one.  So, there I was ....stuck at AutoZone with a dead battery and no way to get anywhere.  In the mean time Mike's in a meeting with Sally so he's not getting my texts or calls.  Though I'm not one to panic and/or stress, the sun was getting a bit hot and chafing.

A las, after a few successful communication efforts, the battery is charged and a new [free] one is put in the back.  Yeah for warranties that don't run out!  The only next solution was to spend the rest of the day at the station where Mike could do his magical hammer touch to get us home [at the end of the day] and install the new battery then.

What could possibly be more refreshingly vivifying on such a scorching desert day than that favored mocha frapp?  The Yellow Leaf drive through was perfect so as not to have to turn the van off again.  But I dare say, it doesn't measure up to the  Starbucks mocha frapp.  Is it the corn syrup that Starbucks uses?   None the less, refreshing it still was.

The station was a buzz with preps for the next day's golf and walk fundraiser.  It seems to be the bane of Sally's not for profit radio  fundraising existence.  However, she's handled the stress very well.  It was good to have a day with Mike....kinda sorta.  I helped newly hired Vickie [who once told me, after Steve's resignation, that she was well aware that we could've left in those years but thankful we didn't] put together gift baskets in the conference room.  It's so nice to have a station full of volunteers again since the changing of the guard.

Mike and I walked to China Buffet just down the road.  Everything....everything is a photograph to me.  So, of course, the camera shutter went off quite a bit on the way.  But also on the way, Mike shared some humbling information.  Though unintentional for it, Sally disclosed some encouraging information while in her meeting with Mike.  The last board meeting was earlier in the week and all were moved by Sally's relaying of our story of desiring to move to Manila and work with the Edge.  All but one:  Kevin Robinson.  The things that were said were reassuringly humbling with the board supportive and grateful for Mike's ten years here.
