CityFest Tempe, AZ 3.2011 |
the girls came with us while all three boys stayed home. David Long was a great conversationalist with/for Mike on the way down. Jaylene and I were buckets behind. it was a beautiful overcast day with not a glimmer of any sun's ray to be seen. 80's in Phoenix on such a day is joyously pleasant. Bill and Sue Ferguson, Pat Eddolls with his kids and Zion and a few other Prescott area familiar faces trickled in. Oh, and Ray Aguilar and gang.
as usual, Tori was a big help behind the table. Virginia and Barb were only there a few hours since Virginia doesn't like driving back up the mountain at night. I'm not sure that she can with some of her vision issues. Mike interviewed Kevin Palau and Eli [local event coordinator]. apparently, Eli's been to the Philippines quite a few times. he travels with Palau and company and showed interest in future possibilities of doing something in Manila. these festivals are free....think the love offerings help with costs. the percentage I'm unsure of.
the hostess tent area was a yummy catering of grilled chicken, BBQed chicken, grilled pork...etc. television monitors of stage viewing, great night ambiance decor and just gorgeous. much to sierra's disappointment neither Mike or I were willing to plow through the crowd to get her up against the front fencing in front of the stage. there were thousands we would've had to plow through. that's crazy. after a few minutes of pouting, she was more than fine dancing and laughing with Tori over the amusement of the passionate Skillet violinist. it was astounding to witness such talents of head banging and violining combined.
it was a good night. a great night. Steven Ferguson's drive home companionship was laced with more personable interaction than we remembered ever having experienced with him. I'm happy for him as I watch his self-confidence bloom and blossom since his struggling high school years.
