what a crazy weekend. just crazy. I don't remember the first or last time I've ever had to work so hard just to enjoy my own birthday...and I say that purely out of observation. No complaining here because I actually smiled through it all.
Frankie spent the night Friday night after we let the kids swim at the Faith pool for a couple hours and after the boys rugby and basketball practice. I'm so happy to see Dylan with new friends that care about him. The girls varsity had a practice game. it was interesting.
back home I did as much laundry as possible. we picked up some pancit and chicken. the boys stuffed as much chicken into their maws as possible leaving but a few specks for the rest of us to peck at after picking up a few things at the Korean store with Frankie. The joys of parenting teens and hosting their pals. It's all good. This season of life should be enjoyed because once it's over....welp, it's over. Sentimental sigh.
Saturday morning I was up as early as possible doing more laundry and making as big of a breakfast as I could for the kids...especially the boys. Tyler had a rugby game at IS. we got to Faith much later than I wanted to. The festival started at 10am, but we didn't get out the door until like 10:30 something or other. It was so hard to get everybody really fed and out. Frankie and Dylan stayed at the school. Tyler went on with his team to IS.
We didn't get to spend money on games or food. So, the girls saw it all as a pointless trip. They didn't meet any new potential friends. Grant it the prices were high. but that's because each class was making money with their food stand and activities. I felt bad. I was afraid of this. I just wanted so bad to be able to do everything on my birthday weekend....including Tyler's game. Saw Amanda Ross and her husband and kids. Was glad to see them. Mike was able to connect them face to face. He talked with Derik some more. I quickly went across the circle to meet with Pam Gregory who's looking to find someone to take over the Coffee shop at the bottom of the auditorium.
So, just like that we were there and we were off again. We dropped off the girls and Mav. Fortunately, they had plenty of leftovers and whatever I had already made early in the morning. After another shower, we grabbed precious baby O and headed out to SM Marikina where we parked, walked to the MRT station and hopped on a train. The LRT in Cubao was just as exhaustive carrying a baby in the heat. After a few bites at Taco Bell that is. Those were yummy processed bites. When we hit the last stop on the LRT it was a mad rush trying to find a jeepney that was cruising the jeepney stop slow enough for me to get on it with a baby in arms. We found one where we could all three sit in the front next to the driver. What a different view out the front window as oppose to from the back. What a great photo shooting opportunity but shamefully unable to take with baby in arms. We got off at the Mall of Asia just because Mike truly wasn't sure where the doc for the Sunset Dinner Cruise was. After walking through the mall and out onto the Bay we were directed to get a taxi. Ah, yes. Nope, there's no way we could've walked that.
We missed the Sunset boat. We barely made it for reserving a spot on the next one which also served a dinner. We had to wait an hour though. So I took the opportunity to shoot a few shots of the bay and sunset. Decided not to vex over an Indian woman that couldn't be bothered to remove her over sized purse off my bag as I pillaged through it with baby O in hand. Ok. Maybe under my silent nose I did. But she was spared a dirty look and flaring nostrils. Dinner was served and eatin' before we left the doc. As the boat moved closer towards Mall of Asia we made our way outside at the front. Oh, yes in deedy the water most definitely still wreaked as it did back in the 80's. Oh what a disappointing shame that the locals can't be bothered to take enough pride and help keep the place clean. What could be such a glorious fabulous weekend place for entertainment and tourism still spews out eye crossing stench. But once we got passed that part of the water, we were in front of MOA and the boat turned facing it. This was the first I'd learned that fireworks go off above MOA every Friday and Saturday evening. Had we made it for the previous boat there would not have been the joy of bringing 40 with a big bang. Such awesomeness.
After docking and walking just a few feet we took a taxi to the LRT station. What a view of the night masses as we walked up the steps. What a view! It truly puts a visual definition on 111k people/square meters. Such a screaming density of life volume. Back in Cubao we wanted to finish off the night with a starbucks and/or desert. Mike's desert pick at Starbucks was over the top in sweetness...so much so that I couldn't indulge in the favored mocha frapp. Oh, such tragedy to waste $4 because it couldn't be taken onto the train. Such a devastating tragedy. (-_^) (^_^) The walk back from the station to SM Marikina seemed a bit much on the oh so tired feet and over sweaty body. We were done. So done. Never have we ever worked so hard to celebrate a birthday. But hey. It was worth it. Now we've added a memorable peace of history into our lives. It was beautiful. It was magnificent. It was amazing. It was YUMbo with two good looking dates: The Stud and baby O. A cold shower was the perfect cool down followed be the softest pillow and most welcoming bed. Life is truly beautiful. The smile inside is bigger than the human eye can see. The Stud wanted to make it memorable for reasons he'd never experienced. Reasons no words of mine could ever justly describe. That's why he's so Studleh. I SO LOVE him.
