shopping for lettuce here is not quite like I'm used to back in the west. gone are the days of making Costco runs to pick up American sized bags of romaine lettuce, polished looking peppers, uniformed produce and what not. maybe there's something wrong with it if it's all polished and uniform? nah, let's not go there.
but anyway, one person told me when there's a lot of rain [as in days] there's less likely to be much in the stores because it comes down from the mountain [Baguio] about 5-6 hours away because of the compromised driving conditions. we haven't had much rain lately so yesterday [food run day] the local supermarket had lots. but we're not talkin' American sized. they are not even an 8th of the size and bundled together. none-the-less this salad fiend was stoked. today I'm stoked to enjoy it with some homemade avocado ranch and some chicken. it was a symphony of YUM.
